Stainless 446

Stainless 446

Grade 446 is a heat resistant chromium ferritic stainless steel grade. It is resistant to oxidation, corrosion and sulfides. Stainless 446 is commonly used in high temperature applications between 815 and 1148 °C. It is the only heat resistant stainless steel capable of withstanding molten copper, lead, tin and brass Like other high chromium ferritic stainless grades, 446 is also resistant to a fracture temperature of 473°C and therefore is not recommended for use in the 371-537°C temperature range.
